performing works on TRUMPET AND PIANO
The Trinity Artist Series is pleased to open its 2015-16 season with a performance from trumpeter Bill Lawing and pianist Cynthia Lawing.
Dr.William Lawing is the Estes Millner professor of Music at Davidson College. He received his D.M.A. from the Cleveland Institute of Music. As a solo artist, Dr. Lawing has appeared with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Charlotte Pops Orchestra, and the Western Piedmont Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with Bela Fleck and the Kruger Brothers and at Carnegie Hall. Dr.Lawing is a member of the well-known brass quintet, Carolina Brass. As a performer and teacher, he has traveled to Hong Kong, Chile, Germany, Macau, and the Netherlands.
Performing with Dr. Lawing is his wife, Cynthia Lawing, an internationally acclaimed pianist and recitalist. Mrs. Lawing has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra as well as the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra. She also gave a private recital for Madame Chaing Kaishek. As a performer and teacher, she has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and South America. She is currently an artist associate in the music department at Davidson College.
